January Newsletter

JANUARY NEWSLETTER

How is January almost over?! We had the BEST time exploring winter with our 5 senses. We have discussed things we see in Winter and read White Snowman, White Snowman What Do You See? We completed a Taste Test using our sense of Taste. We read Polar Bear, Polar Bear What do you Hear? We practiced using our sense of hearing by listening to different sounds and then identifying what it was. We explored our sense of touch by touching things and then describing them as hard or soft. We also explored our sense of smell by smelling different scents. The students did a great job identifying which sense goes with which body part!

The Pretend Play center was set up as a skating rink with pretend play ice skates (paper plates to skate on the slick surface) a snowman, snowballs, a concession stand and winter clothes. The students LOVED having “snowball fights” and building snowmen. They also enjoyed playing in the fake snow in the sensory bin!

I am looking forward to next month! We will focus on friendship and kindness and learn about historical peacemakers.
